ročník 5About the country
Location of the place
I was working in the hearth of Vienna - at the office at TU Wien, near Karlz Platz, which was very convenient, due to good metro availability.
City
City of Vienna is extremely beautiful and convenient to student. A lot to do, lot to see and a lot to travel to. Public transportation is very good. Only minus is that google maps don't cooperate with Winerlinen, so for public transportation you need to use Quando.
Surroundings (possible trips, ...)
During my stay I visited Bratislava, Brno, Graz, Ljubljana and Zagreb. Very convenient is FlixBus and if purchased ahead, also Obb.

Salary (sufficient for local conditions?)
1.000 Euros - 21% taxes = 790 euros. Enough to survive.
Language requirements
English mostly. I have also practiced my german (A2).
Accommodation (price, who provided it)
320 euros. It was arranged by me at an apartment 40 minutes off the city centre. Price was very convenient as well as the equipment, flatmates and atmosphere. (Dormitory was around 360 euros).
Social life
Meeting IAESTE members (pick-up at the airport, organized events...)
There was no need to pick me up. I have participated on IAESTE Boku and Vienna member meetings, National congress and international conference CEC. There were plenty trainee events organised.
Meeting other foreign students
Yes, mostly other trainees (even in autumn).
Sport and culture
Jogging mostly and plenty of culture events. Sports tend to be rather expensive (climbing hall - 8-10 euros for student).
Food, local specialties
I was cooking a lot by myself, however visited also often restaurants. For the lunch menu you pay around 8 euros. For dinner 10-12 euros. Cheapest store is probably Hoffer. Local speciality - Winer schnitzel with potato salad.

Recommendations for students who will go to the same place
Enjoy it as much as possible. The best is to grab a beer in the evening and just walk around. Vienna is beautiful city. Every first sunday of the month are some museums free. You will need to arrange yourself as soon as you arrive internet in the phone. It is a MUST for public transportation
